Our Story
Founded in 1985 as Sam Patterson Truck Brokers, Patterson was just one office that brokered trucks to haul perishable items – focusing on produce commodities. Adding non-perishable loads in the 90’s, the potential for Patterson was realized, and other agents were brought on board. Steve Howard joined the team in 1993 with a vision of growing a large book of business. Due to the growth in Steve’s numbers alone, he was offered a partnership in 2001. Since then, Patterson has expanded their agent-offices across many states and has grown exponentially in both perishable and non-perishable markets. This growth gave Mr. Howard the ability to start taking complete ownership in 2009.
With a corporate name change and some strategic acquisitions, Patterson Companies is building one great brand. Patterson is not only just a leading 3rd party logistics company; Patterson also has large asset divisions (refrigerated and dry vans) and warehouse/distribution locations – with a plan to continue growth across the country.

About Steve
Since Steve Howard grew up in a trucking family, he knew at an early age he wanted to be part of the industry. Steve began driving a truck in 1980 and later began his brokering career when he joined Patterson in 1993. He has been married to Krista since 1980, has 3 children, and 2 grandchildren. He is proud of Patterson’s growth and is excited about its future.
Steve and Krista love to give back to their community and to others. They both give God all the glory for their successes in life!
